Here at Indian Ridge Kennel we believe that the best possible way to have healthy, happy Bullies is through their tummies. That is why we feed the best possible food that we can to our Bulldogs. Here are some things to remember when choosing the right puppy or dog food for your new companion….

Puppy Food – Choosing the right puppy food can be very confusing. Make sure you get a puppy food with High Protein and High Fat. Here we fed a puppy food that is 31% protein and 20% fat. We also make sure that our food is meat based and has Omega-3 and DHA added to the food. This helps promote healthy skin and hair coat on your Bully. The first year of your Bullies life is very important. They are continuing to grow and need the higher protein and fat content to keep up with their growth.

It is always best when choosing a brand of puppy food to choose the best for your puppy. You certainly do not want to go to the discount isle for your new companion’s food. Remember you are building your Bulldogs future.

Adult Food – We get asked often here, “When do I switch my Bulldog puppy over to adult dog food?” We tell all of our new Bulldog owners to leave their new Bully on puppy food until they are at least 1 year old, unless your veterinarian has advised you to change.

Our adult Bulldogs here are fed a meat base food that is 26% protein and 18% fat. As your Bulldog matures, they need to be kept active. You do not want your Bully to become an obese, couch potato. Activity and what your Bully eats will have a lot to do with your new companion’s health.
